Skillsoft Percipio Integration

Big Think+ and Skillsoft Percipio

This article explains how to connect your Big Think+ content with Percipio, including which content types we send, single sign-on (SSO), and activity reporting.

Summary of the integration

Percipio's open platform capabilities enable a turnkey integration for Big Think+. If your organization licenses Big Think+ content and integrates it with Percipio, you will see the following benefits:

Unified access for learners When you import Big Think+ content into Percipio, learners can discover and launch all available content from one platform. To support a seamless experience when accessing Big Think+ content, you can establish Single Sign-On (SSO) between Percipio and Big Think+. SSO can be configured using Percipio as the Identity Provider (IdP) or your own IdP.

Automated content import and management Import your licensed Big Think+ content into Percipio through an automated nightly sync. This integration keeps your library up to date by managing content lifecycle events such as new additions, metadata updates, and removals, so it stays in parity with the Big Think+ platform.

Ready-made collections, not just individual videos Along with individual lessons and courses, we send Expert Classes and your published Curations as collections. Your team doesn't have to rebuild a Big Think+ Curation lesson by lesson inside Percipio — the collection arrives as a single, launchable item.

Curate custom learning experiences Once the content is imported, you can create channels, journeys, and assignments that blend Skillsoft and Big Think+ resources for a cohesive learner experience.

Robust reporting and activity tracking Learner activity in Big Think+ content is tracked and reflected in Percipio reports. Although synchronization occurs daily, activity may take up to 48 hours to appear in reports or on the learner's dashboard. Learners who access content directly through Big Think+ will also have that activity captured in Percipio, as long as they use the same login method for both Big Think+ and Percipio.

What content types we send to Percipio

Curations (published)Course (a collection that opens in Big Think+)EnglishLesson- and course-level activity only

Lessons

Every licensed Big Think+ lesson in your catalog is sent as its own item. Because Percipio's search indexes the title field, we append the expert's name to the lesson title (for example, Give Feedback That Sticks - Adam Grant), which makes lessons findable by expert.

Courses

Big Think+ Courses are sent as Percipio courses, with the expert names appended to the title for the same search reason. Course progress and completion are reported back to Percipio.

Expert Classes

Expert Classes are sent as collections. Launching one takes the learner to the Expert Class page in Big Think+, where they can work through the lessons and use the supporting materials that live there, such as discussion guides and worksheets. Those supporting materials aren't imported into Percipio as separate items — they stay with the Expert Class in Big Think+, so learners always get the current version.

Curations

Curations are sent as collections so admins don't have to rebuild them inside Percipio. We send every Curation that is published in your Big Think+ organization, including:

  • Curations your admins and managers build,
  • Curations the Big Think+ team builds for you, and
  • Off-the-shelf Curations your team has copied and published.

Draft, unpublished, and archived Curations are not sent. Launching a Curation takes the learner to that Curation in Big Think+, so the items inside it are always current — you don't need to re-sync after editing a Curation's contents.

Curations are sent in English only. Expert Classes, Courses, and Lessons are sent in every language you have available.

What we send with each item

For each content item, we pass:

  • Title (with expert names appended for Lessons and Courses)
  • Description
  • Expert names (Lessons and Courses)
  • Deep link that opens the content in Big Think+
  • Thumbnail image
  • Duration (Lessons and Courses; not sent for Expert Classes or Curations)
  • Tags — "Big Think+" plus the capabilities and sub-capabilities associated with the content
  • Active or inactive status
  • Language

How often content syncs

  • Initial import: Percipio accepts one language per day for a full catalog load, so we send a single language each night until your catalog is complete. A multi-language catalog takes several nights to finish loading.
  • Ongoing updates: After the initial load, we send new and updated content nightly across all languages. This includes new lessons, courses, Expert Classes, and newly published Curations, plus metadata changes and items that are no longer active.
  • Supported languages: All Big Think+ supported languages except Bengali and Ukrainian, which Percipio does not support.

Reporting and activity tracking

Lesson and course activity is sent to Percipio as learners watch. Lesson progress is reported at the start and at each 10% of the video, so partially completed lessons show progress rather than nothing at all.

For Expert Classes and Curations, the individual lessons and courses a learner opens from inside the collection are reported to Percipio against those items. Percipio does not currently receive a single completion record for the collection itself, so use lesson- and course-level reporting to track progress through an Expert Class or Curation.

Activity may take up to 48 hours to appear in Percipio reports or on the learner's dashboard.

Getting started

Configuring SSO

First, enable Single Sign-On so learners can access both Percipio and Big Think+ content with a single login. You can:

  • Use Percipio as the Identity Provider (IdP), or
  • Use your organization's existing Identity Provider

Importing Big Think+ content

To begin, your organization must have an active contract with Big Think+ and Skillsoft Percipio. Generate the following in Percipio and share them with your Big Think+ customer contact:

  • OAuth2 Client ID (e.g. b12c6149-7e13-401a-790b-e4044fa43bca)
  • OAuth2 Client Secret (e.g. 7a81fe06-68e5-4184-b9f8-f112d943cb48)
  • OAuth2 Domain (e.g. oauth2-provider.develop.squads-dev.com)
  • Content Endpoint (e.g. api.percipio.com/content-import/v1/partners/BIGTHINK/organizations)
  • Tracking Endpoint (e.g. api.percipio.com/content-aggregation/v1/partners/BIGTHINK/organizations)
  • Percipio Organization ID (e.g. b32e0cfe-e9aa-4649-b74c-f15e68772ee2)

No additional configuration is needed to receive Expert Classes and Curations — they are included for every Percipio integration.

Once your integration is live, direct any integration-related questions to the Big Think+ Partner Success team.

Good to know

  • Catalog delivery limits. If your Percipio catalog has a delivery limit, we fill it in this order: lessons, courses, Expert Classes, then Curations. A low limit can cut off collections, so let Partner Success know if you want collections prioritized.
  • Unpublishing a Curation. An unpublished or archived Curation stops syncing, but it is not automatically marked inactive in Percipio. Remove it in Percipio if you no longer want learners to see it.
  • Access. Launching any Big Think+ item from Percipio opens Big Think+, so learners need an active Big Think+ account and the SSO connection in place. Curations are visible to everyone in your Big Think+ organization once published.
