How do I download Analytics data?

This article explains how to export data from Big Think+ Analytics to use in reports, presentations, or other analysis tools.

Every content tab — Curations, Lessons, Courses, Learning Paths and Learners — supports downloading, and every download reflects the table exactly as you've filtered it: the date range and any filters you've applied at the time you click Download.

There are two kinds of download available from the Curations, Lessons, and Courses tabs: a summary view (one row per curation, lesson, or course) and, where enabled, a detailed view (one row per learner per piece of content). The Learners tab only offers a summary-style download, one row per learner.

How do I download the summary view?

1. Go to any Analytics tab — Curations, Lessons, Courses, or Learners.
2. Set the date range you want using the date filter.
3. Apply any additional filters to narrow your results, if needed.
4. Click Download (or Download CSV, on tabs where a detailed view is also available — see below) at the top right of the table.
5. If you see a dropdown, choose Download summary view.
6. A CSV file downloads to your device, matching what's currently on screen.

How do I download the detailed view?

On the Curations, Lessons, and Courses tabs, organizations with detailed analytics enabled will see a Download CSV button with a small arrow next to it, instead of a plain Download button. Clicking it opens two options:

• Download summary view — the rolled-up table you see on screen, one row per curation/lesson/course.
• Download detailed view — a CSV of every learner's activity on every piece of content in that curation, lesson, or course, for your selected date range. This is the most granular export available — it includes completion status, time spent, and (for video content) start and completion dates at the individual content-item level.

What’s included in the download?

• The exported file includes every column visible in that tab's table (or, for the detailed view, the full set of per-learner, per-content fields — see the data definitions article above).
• Time-based fields (Time Watched, View Time) are recorded in seconds in the raw export, to make downstream calculations easier — even though the on-screen table shows them in a friendlier format like "1 hour, 23 minutes."
• The download only reflects the date range and filters that were active at the moment you clicked Download.
